What Gauguini records about you, why, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed. It describes what the system actually does; nothing here is aspirational.
Who we are
Gauguini is operated by GAUGUINI LLC, 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958, United States. Write to contact@gauguini.com about anything in this notice, including a request to see, correct or remove what we hold.
What is recorded, and when
An account holds your e-mail address, a one-way hash of your password, optionally your name, and the language you were reading in. A password is never stored in a form anybody — including us — can read back.
An order holds what you bought, what you paid, the Stripe payment reference, and the delivery address you gave at payment. We ship to that address and no other; that is what protects both of us.
Writing to us — a question about a piece, a berth on an expedition, an object you are offering — records what you wrote and how to answer you.
Asking to be told when the application opens records your address and the language you were reading in, and nothing else.
What is deliberately not recorded
Visits are counted by country only. The country is worked out at the moment of the visit and the IP address is discarded — it is never written down. There is no record anywhere that could link a visit to a person, and this is a property of how the software is built rather than a setting that could be changed by accident.
There is no advertising network, no third-party analytics service, and no tracking cookie of any kind. The only cookies set are the ones that keep you signed in.
We do not sell, rent or share personal information. Payment card details never reach this site: Stripe handles them and tells us only whether a payment succeeded.
Who else sees it
The site runs on Vercel and its database on Neon, both in the United States. Photographs are served by Cloudflare. Messages are sent through Resend and our own mailboxes are with Infomaniak, in Switzerland. Payments are handled by Stripe.
Each of these processes data only to provide the service it is used for. None of them is given anything for their own purposes.
How long it is kept
Your account is kept until you close it. You can close it yourself, at any time, from your account page on this site or from within the application.
Orders are kept for as long as accounting law requires, which is several years. Closing your account does not delete them and cannot: an invoice is a record we are obliged to hold. What it does is sever the link between that invoice and any account — the transaction remains, attached to nobody.
Correspondence is kept while it is useful to answering you, and can be removed on request.
Membership
Membership — which opens the tenth object of each category in the application — is never stored. It is recomputed from your paid orders each time it is needed. That is why it cannot be forged, and why it ends the moment an account is closed.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it removed, or have a copy of it. Write to contact@gauguini.com and we will answer.
Closing your account is the fastest route to removal and needs nobody’s help: it is a button on your account page and in the application.
